Dentistry Plus gets to know the Leeming community

As a dental clinic, along with our sister company Dentures Plus, the community we work in this very important to us.

We get to meet many of the people that live and work here, along with members of their family and fortunately forge long relationships with them. We meet other local health services as well as many other businesses operating in the area. We, in turn, become part of the community. Keen to assimilate, when our dentists and dental technicians moved into the neighbourhood, we were interested in finding a little bit more about its history.

Leeming history

Formerly part of Jandakot, Leeming was originally an agricultural area way up until the 1970s. It gets its name from a surveyor who died way back in 1902 called George Waters Leeming. The suburb Leeming will not actually constructed until the mid ‘70s, with many of the streets actually named after the original agricultural owners of the area.

South of Perth by 17 km and just 13 km (or a 10 minute drive) from Fremantle, Leeming is now becoming a popular new destination. It’s accessible both by Kwinana Freeway and Roe Highway.

To support the community, there are now new shopping centres, schools and recreational areas. There are actually three primary schools: Leeming primary, with Leeming and banks Park. Leeming senior high school is their only high school in the area. Leeming Shopping Forum and Stockland Bull Creek service the area, as do Southlands Boulevard close by in Willeton. There is also a golf club, recreation centre in sports facilities.

Another factor contributing to Leeming’s burgeoning popularity is that it is simply two kilometres away from our well-known Murdoch University, Murdoch case and the fantastic new St John of God Hospital – just 2 km away. For this reason, many people are flooding into the area, pushing the need for more health services.

Farrington Road – a hub of healthcare practitioners!

Farrington Road is certainly becoming a one-stop-shop for all your healthcare needs. Right here in our neighbourhood strip there is a podiatrist; chiropractor; several doctors; including an after-hours GP; another dentist, and of course now Dentistry Plus and Dentures Plus has arrived into the neighbourhood!

Coffee shops

Now, let’s call this paragraph a ‘work in progress’! If you’d like to tell us about a great coffee spot, give us a bell and let us know! Our hard-working team here are always keen to find a great caffeine fix … At the time of writing, we’ve been open for about three weeks and can offer the following information: if you have to kill time before your dental appointment, or your waiting while your loved one is visiting the dentist, you could drop over to cafe Du Soleil at Lowrie Grove, Leeming, or whiz on up to the Dome Cafe in Willetton. Let us know what you think – and please, give us your reviews!

Surrounding suburbs of Leeming

Dentistry Plus (which also houses our sister company Dentures Plus with its in-house dental prosthetists) served the people of Leeming but also the following surrounding suburbs: Jandakot, Bull Creek, Canning Vale, Murdoch, North Lake, Kardinya, Willetton, Bateman, Winthrop and South Lake.
